Students can pursue a cloud computing career with Collin College’s latest program.

The university has been approved by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC) to offer a Bachelor of Applied Sciences Associate (AAS) degree in Cloud Computing Infrastructure from this fall.

According to Program Leader and Professor of Computer Networking, Aparna Godbole, cloud computing is a rapidly evolving field with great employment opportunities.

“The main goal is to provide students with the opportunity to train and acquire the skills needed to find entry-level positions such as cloud support specialists and cloud administrators,” said Godbole.

The two-year program builds on knowledge domains and skills developed by local, state, and national committees, and input from industry experts on the university’s cloud computing advisory board. In addition, many courses in the program work with high-demand industry certifications such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure. Courses are updated frequently to meet changing work needs.

After earning an AAS degree in a cloud computing infrastructure, students can transfer their credit hours to a bachelor’s degree. This will be one of the first Collin College technical workforce degrees to provide students with a path to a four-year institutional bachelor’s degree program.
