Among those at the Beervana beer festival were Serena Parata, FOH for Boneface Brewing Co, left, and cosplay artist Sophia Stacey.

Aficionados and the “beer-curious” of all ages sipped, slurped and sampled their way through 430 types of beer in what event manager Ryan McArthur is hailing as the best Beervana ever over the weekend.

It was the 20th iteration of the two-day event, and the 10th year it’s been held in the Sky Stadium.

McArthur, whose been involved with the event for 11 years and managed it for three, said “this was the best one yet”.

About 16,000 people went along and “the feedback from breweries and punters has been great across the board”.

“The breweries really brought their A game, both in their beers and their creativity, and the crowds that came through really were fantastic. It was a very diverse crowd in terms of gender and age,” he said.

“Everyone that turned up seemed to be there to have a good time. People embraced it,” he said.

Most attendees were partial to a beer, but many became converts after discovering a type of beer they’d never tried before.

“That’s what we aim for, really. We know we capture the beer lovers, but we really try to push the messaging to the beer-curious. We hope they have that first ‘epiphany beer’,” McArthur said.
