Passaic Tech over Union City – Baseball – N1G4 1st round


Johnny Gilligan nearly went the distance pitching 6 2/3 innings giving up no runs and just one hit with nine strikeouts as fifth-seeded Passaic Tech downed 12th-seeded Union City, 8-0, in the North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 tournament in Wayne.

With the win, Tech will take on fourth-seeded Mount Olive in the next round on Saturday.

Dan Ramos and Nazier Mule both hit home runs and finished with three RBI on the day for Tech. Ramos led the team with a two hits as he doubled as well. Tech finished with nine hits and eight different players scored.

Tech plated five runs in the bottom of the second inning and added two more in the fifth and one run in the sixth.

Union City fell to 9-9 with the loss while Tech improved to 15-6.
